Give the Gift of Your Time and Make a Difference

We are a nonprofit organization which relies on volunteers getting involved so we can offer support and information to our member families and the general community. Please consider contributing your time and talents!

Whether “coaching” children through arts & crafts during community programs, motivating inexperienced riders how to ride a bicycle during Bike Camp, supporting special event execution or assisting with office administrative tasks, the time you give makes a difference. Read below for more information on our volunteering opportunities.

Get started with Bloomerang Volunteer

Ready to get started? We’ve introduced a new volunteer sign up platform called Bloomerang Volunteer. It is an easy-to-use online platform designed to connect volunteers like you with opportunities that need your support.

Bloomerang Volunteer makes it simple to login at any time to search our calendar for volunteer opportunities, sign up, manage your shift if you need to cancel, and track your volunteer hours.

Volunteer Tasks & Opportunities

Program “Coach”

Many of our programs like SuperStars Saturdays, Sensory Playtime and LEGO Club require volunteers to work directly with our child participants serving as a “coach” to help them be as fully involved as possible.  This may mean being partnered directly with a participant or guiding groups through an arts & crafts activity.

Patience, teaching skills, good communication, and a general interest in arts & crafts are all beneficial volunteer traits.

iCan Shine Bike Camp Runners & Spotters

Help children learn to ride a two-wheeler. Each summer, the Autism Society SE WI sponsors iCan Shine Bike Camps in our area. This is a five-day program that teaches children with developmental disabilities to ride a two-wheel bike.

We need volunteers who can run alongside the campers on their bikes as well as general volunteers to help with set up, check in, etc. This is a great service project for high school students if you can commit to a two-hour slot for five consecutive days. It is great exercise and very rewarding!

Special Events & Fundraiser Support

Every year we host a few large fundraising events to continue our growth and provide the support to all that are affected by Autism.  We host a Gala event in April and our A-Team Fun Walk for Autism in August. The Walk is the largest single-day gathering to support Autism in Wisconsin, and we usually need help with people on-site to setup, check-in families, time the participants, provide wayfinding, staff water and food stations, monitor the bounce house and assist in many more areas.

General Office Support

If you are task-oriented, enjoy interacting with others, and like working in a friendly office environment, then volunteering in a clerical capacity may be a good fit for you. As an administrative volunteer, you can assist with operational responsibilities including helping with mailings, data entry, phone calls, research, writing and more. This is a great opportunity for someone newly retired, part-time workers, students seeking volunteer hours over summer, or even business resource groups.

If you are interested in scheduling a regular shift as an individual or a group, contact us at volunteer@assew.org.
