Sensory Friendly Tree Lighting

Love celebrating the holidays, but worried that certain events will be overwhelming? Join us for our third annual FREE sensory friendly holiday tree lighting for children and adults with Autism and other developmental disorders! Visit with sensory friendly Santa and enjoy the crafts, games, and other holiday activities. We will then bundle up to count down the tree lighting outside the library at 7 p.m.

Lionel Bart’s Oliver! Sensory Friendly Performance

Come and consider yourself one of us for a special sensory-friendly performance of Lionel Bart’s Oliver! on December 10th at the Skylight Music Theatre. Based on one of the greatest stories ever written, the show is filled with unforgettable characters, humor, dancing, drama, and a whole lot of heart. All that and two dozen of Milwaukee’s finest youth performers, Oliver! promises to be a show that the whole family can enjoy again and again during this holiday season. This unique performance is modified to address various sensory sensitivities. Accommodations include lights in the theater remaining on but dimmed, elimination of loud sound effects, freedom to talk and leave your seat, and a “Quiet Area” to take a break from the performance.

Tubing at Sunburst Ski Hill

For our first quarter member-only event, we will be inviting families to Sunburst Ski Area in Kewaskum Wisconsin for a fun-filled day of tubing. Cost is only $10 if you’re a member! Regular price tickets are usually $23 per person. Enjoy no lines at check in, a sensory friendly warming barn to take a break, get hot cocoa and hang out with other members. Please note, tickets are non-refundable.  Registration and group code details are emailed to members.

MSO Sensory-Friendly Concert

Sensory friendly concerts are designed for people of any age on the Autism Spectrum or with a sensory sensitivity and their families, but all are welcome! Concert modifications include dimmed house lights remaining on during the performance, flexible seating, relaxed house rules, on-stage hosts, available sensory kits, noise reduction headphones, quiet areas, concert social narratives, and more. Patrons are encouraged to come early and enjoy an hour of special pre-concert activities.

The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra donates a limited number of tickets for this performance to the Autism Society of SE WI MEMBERS. We offer these FREE tickets on a first come, first serve basis to our MEMBERS.

A-Team Fun Walk

The A-Team Fun Walk For Autism is a family friendly event where dedicated walkers, volunteers and sponsors raise money to help the Autism Society SE WI continue to provide programs, services and support within your community. As one of the largest autism family gatherings in the state, it’s also an amazing experience filled with activities, entertainment and the celebration of coming together to change the future for everyone affected by autism.

Join the Autism Society of SE WI for a Member Only event at Waldvogel’s Farm in Juneau – Wisconsin’s largest pumpkin farm. It’s going to be a day guaranteed to bring smiles to the whole family. With over 80 attractions to enjoy, everyone will find something exciting to do.

SOAR Airport Rehearsal Program

The SOAR program is an airport rehearsal program designed for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), their families, and aviation professionals. The goal of SOAR is to alleviate some of the stress that people with disabilities and their families experience when traveling by air. It includes a MKE unique social story that participant families review before the big rehearsal day.

Urban Autism Summit

If your family has been touched by autism, or you are a caregiver, an adult on the spectrum or a professional who supports individuals living with autism, please join us! The goal of the Urban Autism Summit is to close the gap in information and services about Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) for families and the professionals who serve them in Milwaukee.
