The Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin is inviting you to join us and bring a unique program to schools.

Making Change for Autism is a fun educational and awareness coin/donation drive initiative specifically designed by special education teachers for schools.

The Change Champions program:

Helps students gain a better understanding of Autism.

Provides materials and resources to participating schools to help raise awareness.

Gives kids a chance to make a difference and support the 10+ special children and teen programs offered to families every year from the Autism Society of SE WI.

How does Making Change For Autism work?

We need amazing schools, parents and community supporters like you to become coordinators and sign up to help facilitate the program.

Schools decide which week they would like to have an awareness campaign and coin/donation drive.

We will provide all the materials and support you need to make this an amazing Autism education experience for all!

Participating schools receive:

  • $160 Education Membership to Autism Society SE WI
  • Resource directory
  • Various Autism resource books and materials for classrooms/library
  • Pizza party for identified classroom at the end of the campaign*

Step One:

Schools, parents and community partners work with school schedule to decide which week they would like to have an awareness campaign and coin/donation drive.

Step Two:

Reach out to the Autism Society of SE WI to request your kit and receive the additional support and information.

Step Three:

We will deliver kits for your campaign beginning three weeks before your campaign.  In the meantime, schools should have a staff meeting with teachers, parents, administrators and students to get everyone excited!

Step Four:

Use the cool stuff in your kit to generate program excitement including:

  • Take home flyer for every student
  • Teacher letter/poster for every student
  • Bulletin board ideas
  • Downloadable link to video that can be shared at school assemblies, in classrooms with smartboards and sent home to families in electronic communications/weekly folder announcements
  • Autism fact sheet (share in daily announcements)

Step Five:

Have a great Autism Awareness Week Change Champions Event!

To generate more excitement…have a mid-week classroom count to see which classroom is in the lead for the pizza party.

Step Six:

After the campaign is over, contact the coordinator to collect funds.  We will provide a report including the winning pizza* classroom and the total amount of funds collected by your school within a week of funds being submitted.

*Pizza party for schools donating $500 or more during the campaign.  Pizza party includes pizza, drinks and snack.
